Well done on a truely wonderful informative website. My mother was born in Selkirk as was her mother and I have visited many years ago as a child. My mother & father have returned many times for the Common Riding and this year is no exception with my mother attending. It is wonderful to be able to show my children such a beautiful place and teach them about their heritage.

If the Common Riding is on the 2nd Friday after the 1st Tuesday (or the 1st Friday after the 2nd Tuesday) in June, as is written in Selkirk's literature, why is this year's Common Riding on 18th June not 11th June? - It's the first Friday after the 2nd Monday. (Ed.)

My Ancestors were from Selkirk (Scott), and my family and I are visiting in September this year. I can't wait to see this beautiful town and surrounds. Marvellous to get a glimpse of the life of the town through the stories and photos. Also very interesting to read the old stories.

re- dr neil, does he have to get himself onto every commitee in the town, maybe he should take a back seat and let someone with more realistic ideas have a go,re-having the TIME-TEAM do a dig in the Haining, get real, what are they going to find in three days.we should be asking a university to do a study/digg in the grounds around the castle site and various areas of the estate

The Haining loch is one of the best pike lochs in scotland and should be advertised to the max, also a comittee of local anglers should be formed to manage this little treasure not agroup of non-fishers who haven't got a clue.

some of the money left from mr nimmo -smith should be spent on an archaeology dig around the castle site,it would be a fantastic tourist attraction and good for our local economy
